Arsenal fans have been given a boost with the news that midfielder Jack Wilshere has returned from injury much earlier than expected.
Manager Arsene Wenger claims that the England international could be back in the first-team contention in the next two weeks. The 23-year-old had suffered a hairline fracture, which was not thought to be too serious. However, there has always been a lingering doubt about the fitness of Wilshere, who has played a lot of football over the last three years. The injury crisis suffered by the midfielder appears to have been never-ending, but there seems to delight at the end of the tunnel.
A return to the first-team is very crucial not just for Wilshere but for Arsenal as well. The club have not been hugely active in the transfer window since Wenger has placed his faith on the existing crop of players. In the past, he has been criticised of making the same mistake in terms of the transfer window. Despite being aware of the injury record of Abou Diaby, Wenger failed to step into the market a few years ago. Now released from Arsenal, Diaby has shown that the judgement of the Frenchman was wrong. Now, though, Wenger appears to have been proved right with his patience on Wilshere.
“Jack is back in training, I thought it would be six to eight weeks but it could be three or four weeks.He’s in the second week now so he’s on schedule. Tomas has had surgery on his knee. His agent said he will be out for one or two months, but it will be longer. How long exactly, we don’t know yet,” said Wenger about the return of Wilshere. He was also speaking about the potential return of Czech Republic midfielder Tomas Rosicky, who is one of the most experienced players in the squad.
