England international Kieran Gibbs was only a substitute as his Inter Miami side needed a late goal to secure a 1-1 draw with hosts FC Dallas in their latest match in the MLS (Major League Soccer). Kieran Gibbs has been restricted to just six appearances in the MLS this season mainly due to injury. The left-back made his sixth league appearance of the season as a second half substitute during the FC Dallas game.

Ex-Arsenal and West Brom left-back Gibbs has not been able to nail down a starting XI berth at Inter Miami team since he joined them last year and this is as a result of his fitness problems. He had played just five games during the 2022 MLS season before the trip to face FC Dallas at the Toyota Stadium on Tuesday. Kieran Gibbs played 21 minutes against FC Dallas after coming on as a substitute for Mexican defensive midfielder Victor Ulloa on 69 minutes.

Alan Velasco gave FC Dallas a first half lead with his goal on 27 minutes and he was on the way to being the recipient of the winning goal before Ecuadorian attacker Leonardo Campana struck for Inter Miami having come on as a second half substitute for veteran player Gonzalo Higuain. Campana came on for Higuain just after the hour mark and he was responsible for the Inter Miami equaliser on 88 minutes.

Inter Miami are now unbeaten in their last two matches since the defeat suffered at the hands of Atlanta United. Manager Phil Neville and his players have a lot of work to do if they want to secure a place in the playoffs at the end of the regular season. Inter Miami are three points and two places off the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference though they have two games in hand over New England Revolution in the last playoff spot.
