Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has thanked West Bromwich Albion following their shock victory over Manchester United. The win meant that the Citizens were crowned the Premier League champions for the third occasion, and Kompany was pleased with the Baggies triumph at Old Trafford against the odds.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Kompany said: “I had that feeling when I woke up this morning but I don’t like to wait and see a team lose, so it’s a different kind of experience today. As (West Brom) got stuck into the game you got the feeling ‘something could happen here’, and a set-piece, a wonderful goal from Rodriguez – thank you! – it’s a great feeling.” (more…)

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew has stressed that he will not walk-away from the Baggies job, irrespective of their recent run of results. The former Crystal Palace boss has managed to guide the club to just one victory since his arrival in November, and this sees the club seven points adrift of safety with 10 games remaining.


Speaking ahead of the Watford game, Pardew hinted that he could stay on with the Baggies irrespective of their potential relegation to the Championship, he said:“If you think I’m going to walk away, with my experience, with a team that isn’t functioning well, then you’re wrong.” Meanwhile, the 56-year-old was not pleased with the media leaking information about a bust-up between him and Chris Brunt.

It’s been revealed that there was quite a battle in terms of who West Bromwich Albion we’re going to take as their left-back in the summer. The position has been a problem at the Hawthorns but boss Tony Pulis and the board wanted to get this one right.

In the end it all is understood to have boiled down to two candidates which were Charlie Taylor, who at the time was playing for Leeds United and Kieran Gibbs, who was at Arsenal.
